Incorporated as a city in 1910, Chino is a well-established residential and commercial area with beautiful
neighborhoods, diverse demographics, irresistible hometown charm and a well-rounded business mix. The
community was formed in 1887 from part of the Rancho del Chino of Richard Gird, an early settler. Chino
encompasses 21 square miles in southwestern San
Bernardino County with a growing population of approximately 76,000. Chino is centrally located near
the 60, 71 and 91 freeways conveniently within the junction of four Southern California Counties: Los
Angeles, Orange, Riverside, and
San Bernardino. Therefore, linking
Chino's residents to other urban areas, business, and recreational sites. Speaking of convenience, Chino
is also only 15 minutes away from Ontario International Airport.
More than two-thirds of the residents are homeowners and a large share of families have children living at
home. Three-quarters of the population have at least a high school education, almost half attended college,
and 22% are college graduates. There is an average of 2.2 vehicles per household and the average commute
time is 30 minutes, although 26% of Chino's residents commute less than 15 minutes to their employment.
